Five Questions to Clarify Why Your Company Matters

Happy Friday, all!

With Memorial Day coming up, summer is about to begin. I hope you take some time for yourself and enjoy everything the summer season has to offer. Many entrepreneurs use this time to work ON rather than IN their business. So I wanted to pass along a book I recently read that can help you do that.

The book is The Book of Beautiful Questions by Warren Berger. The book offers powerful questions to help you decide, create, connect, and lead. Those of you who know me know that I love to ask questions. So I immediately fell in love with this book that shares productive questions and questioning strategies that can apply to everyday situations.

For example, in the Leadership section, Berger offers these intriguing questions to ask to clarify why your company matters:

  1. If we disappeared tomorrow, who would miss us?
  2. What do we do that others can’t or won’t?
  3. What are we against?
  4. How might we be not just a company but a cause?
  5. What is our higher calling?

As an entrepreneur, you get to build whatever you want. But that entails doing the work around what’s important to you and knowing what you want to build. And that’s why discovering your mission, vision, and values is so important.

If you’re having trouble making decisions, thinking of your next big idea, connecting with others, and figuring out what kind of leader you want to be, this book is for you!

Quote of the Week

“There is value in asking yourself challenging questions even when – perhaps especially when – you don’t have a ready answer.” – Warren Berger

Task of the Week

I highly recommend picking up this and reviewing the questions in areas where you may feel stuck. We all need to take time away to reconnect with our mission, vision, and values around our business. And this book can help you rediscover what you love about your business and where you want it to go.
