Hey all,
It’s been another heavy week. Another violent shooting, more political fear-mongering, and unjustified attacks on LGBTQ+ communities have left many of us feeling raw, anxious, and angry. If it feels like the world is unraveling faster than you can respond, you’re not alone.
In moments like this, it’s easy to feel powerless. But as I often remind myself and my clients, we may be powerless against some things, but we are not helpless.
A client recently shared their vision for a business free from traditional power and control structures. They spoke candidly about preparing for the possibility of losing their professional license simply for being transgender. Their clarity, courage, and determination to build something nimble and values-aligned stopped me in my tracks. It was a powerful reminder: when external safety isn’t guaranteed, we create internal stability.
Stability doesn’t mean control. It means anchoring in what matters and designing systems and rituals that hold us together through the chaos. Here are a few practices I’ve been leaning on and sharing with clients:
- Create emotional safety through daily rituals. Whether it’s a grounding walk, a short meditation, or a cup of tea before emails, the ritual matters more than the duration. It tells your nervous system, “You’re safe here.”
- Revisit and revise your weekly workflow. In uncertain times, structure is a gift. Build in more margin. Cancel what doesn’t feel aligned. Make your business responsive, not reactive.
- Focus on adaptive systems. Can your offers, onboarding, or marketing flex with your energy or external conditions? Simplicity is your friend. Automation is your ally.
None of us can predict what the next season will bring. But we can build businesses that respond with strength, care, and clarity. We can root into our values. We can honor our capacity. We can protect our peace.
Questions of the Week
- What are my current sources of instability—and which of those can I influence?
- What does “safety” look and feel like in my business right now?
- What’s one system or ritual I can strengthen this week to create more internal or external stability?
Tool of the Week
Box Breathing is a simple but powerful grounding technique I use often, especially on chaotic days. Breathe in for four counts, hold for four counts, exhale for four counts, and hold for four counts. Repeat for 1–3 minutes. It brings your nervous system back into balance and signals safety to your body—a small act of self-leadership you can do anywhere.
