Reminder: How to Stay Visible When It Feels Safer to Hide.

Happy Friday, all!

With so much happening in the world — protestors being senselessly killed, wars seemingly on the horizon, reporters being arrested for doing their jobs — it’s no surprise that many of us are asking: What should we do right now?

This week, I’m returning to a solo episode I recorded that feels more timely than ever:

How to Stay Visible When It Feels Safer to Hide.

I completely get that hiding makes sense when the world feels unsafe. But visibility is essential — especially for those of us running mission-driven businesses rooted in justice, care, and equity.

I recently reposted a short video on Instagram that says what I still believe with my whole chest:

  • “You don’t have to disappear to survive.”
  • “Let your business be one of the lights that didn’t go out.”
  • “Let your strategy be the thing that helps you survive and thrive without compromise.”

That’s what this moment is asking of us. Not to perform or push harder — but to stay grounded in who we are, to remember our purpose, and to take aligned action where we can.

When the outside world feels chaotic, your business can become a lighthouse — not only for others, but for yourself. It can remind you of your values. It can offer structure when everything else feels uncertain. And it can still move forward — even if you’re doing it more quietly, more carefully, or more slowly than before.

Here’s what I want to offer if you’re struggling with visibility right now:

1.   Start with what you can control.
You don’t have to comment on everything or know the perfect thing to say. Just keep showing up in ways that feel aligned.

2.   Visibility doesn’t require performance.
You can be visible simply by being consistent — posting content, reaching out to clients, sharing what you know.

3.   Your business is allowed to be a force for good.
Even when the world feels heavy, your work can still support healing, connection, and liberation.

So if you’ve been feeling like you want to go dark — I see you. But I also want to gently remind you: You don’t have to disappear. You’re not alone. You’re not powerless. And you’re still needed.

Questions of the Week

  1. Where am I tempted to hide right now — and what would a small, safe version of showing up look like?
  2. How can I reconnect to the mission or values that first inspired this business?
  3. What’s one way I can make visibility feel more supportive and less performative this week?
