What Are You Saying No To This Fall?

Happy Friday, all!

And happy start to your Labor Day weekend!

Labor Day always feels like a turning point. Summer winds down, kids head back to school, routines return, and—somehow—the holiday season is already peeking around the corner.

For business owners, fall can bring its own pressure: finish the year strong, hit those goals, launch the thing, take on another client, prepare for next year.

But what if your fall planning started with a different question?

What are you saying no to?

We often think growth means adding more. More clients. More offers. More marketing. More revenue. But, as I’ve mentioned before, sustainable growth sometimes requires subtraction.

Maybe it’s saying no to a client who isn’t the right fit. A project that pays well but drains your energy. An offer that no longer aligns with where your business is headed. Or simply the expectation that everything on January’s goal list still needs to happen by December.

Your time, energy, and money are finite resources. Every “yes” uses some of them.

As you head into fall, give yourself permission to be intentional about where those resources go. The goal isn’t to do everything before the year ends. It’s to make sure what you are doing moves you toward the business—and life—you actually want.

Questions of the Week

  1. What am I currently doing out of obligation rather than intention?
  2. What could I say no to that would create more space, energy, or financial clarity?
  3. What deserves my strongest “yes” between now and year-end?

Tool of the Week

Try a Stop Doing List. Write down three things you’ll stop, pause, delegate, or decline this fall. Keep it somewhere visible and revisit it before saying yes to something new.

Have a wonderful long weekend!

Best,

Brian
