Permission to Pause

Reflection of the Week

Permission to Pause

Hey all,

Happy Friday! I hope you all are excited for a long weekend.

As we step into it, I want to offer a gentle reminder: you have permission to pause.

One of the things I appreciate most about my business is the freedom and flexibility it gives me. I can lean in and work long hours when I need to—like during tax season—and I can also step back and take real breaks when I need to, like on weekends like this one.

I’ve learned that my business and life aren’t about achieving perfect balance every day. It’s more about rhythm. About adjusting when the time feels right. That kind of alignment has helped me build something that’s not just sustainable but deeply human.

As mission-driven entrepreneurs, we often feel pressure to always be “on” for our clients, communities, and causes. But we don’t have to earn rest. Rest is part of the work.

Here are three ways to give yourself a pause this weekend:

  • Start your morning slowly – No agenda, no rush. Just ease into the day.
  • Create space with intention – Block off a few hours to do absolutely nothing. Let yourself be.
  • Let go of guilt – If you find yourself feeling anxious about not being “productive,” notice it—and let it pass.

Questions of the Week

  • What does “enough” look like for you this weekend?
  • Where could you offer yourself more grace in the rhythm of your work and rest?
  • How might your business benefit from you being more rested rather than more available?
