Your Q4 Money Check-In

Happy Friday, all!

As we head into the final quarter of the year, it’s tempting to ask, “What do I still need to accomplish?”

But before adding another goal to your Q4 list, I’d encourage you to start somewhere else: your numbers.

A Q4 money check-in isn’t about judging whether you’ve had a “good” or “bad” year. It’s about understanding where you are today so you can make intentional decisions about the next three months.

Here are a few places to look:

  • Revenue and profit: How much have you actually earned this year—and how much have you kept? Compare that with your goals, but pay attention to the story behind the numbers, too.
  • Cash flow: What’s coming in and going out over the next few months? Are there large expenses, slower periods, or outstanding invoices you need to plan around?
  • Taxes: Based on your year-to-date income, are you setting aside enough? A quick check now can help prevent an unwelcome surprise later.
  • Year-end spending: Before buying something simply because it’s “a write-off,” ask whether it actually supports your business and your priorities.

You still have three months to make thoughtful adjustments. The goal isn’t to scramble toward an arbitrary finish line. It’s to use what your numbers are telling you to make the next decision more clearly.

Questions of the Week

  1. What are your numbers telling you about your business right now?
  2. Where might you need to adjust your expectations or plans for Q4?
  3. What is one financial action you can take this week to feel more prepared for year-end?

Tool of the Week

A simple Q4 cash-flow forecast. Map out your expected income, expenses, tax payments, and major purchases for October through December. Even a basic spreadsheet can turn financial uncertainty into a plan.

I kept this intentionally practical and non-hustle-y while still giving readers concrete actions they can take before Q4 begins.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Best,

Brian
