Reflection of the Week
BTF Turns 9!
Happy Friday, all!
This week is a big one. Brian Thompson Financial (or BTF, as many of you know it) turns nine years old today! What started as a solo financial planning business to serve LGBTQ+ couples has grown into a thriving business that helps our mission-driven entrepreneurs make an impact and build great lives. This anniversary feels even more meaningful because it comes during a month of significant milestones in both my personal and professional life.
In just a few weeks, I’m getting married—something that fills me with deep Gratitude and excitement. We’re also coming up on the 100th episode of the Mission Driven Business podcast, and I’ve recently begun training a new employee—something I once couldn’t even imagine doing.
Each of these milestones feels like a distinct reminder of what’s possible when you stay true to your mission, surround yourself with the right support, and keep taking consistent steps forward, even when the path isn’t always clear.
To put things in perspective, only about 35% of small businesses make it to the 10-year mark. That stat feels both sobering and incredibly motivating. It reminds me how rare this longevity is—and how thankful I am to still be here doing the work I love with the people who I love.
This journey has never been a solo one. If you’re reading this, you’ve likely played a role in BTF’s success—whether as a client, podcast listener, collaborator, or cheerleader. Thank you. Truly. Your support has helped me build something I never thought possible.
So this month, I’m celebrating. I’m celebrating the work, the wins (big and small), the relationships, and the resilience it takes to keep showing up. And I hope you’ll take a moment to celebrate your milestones, too. You’re building something meaningful, and that’s always worth honoring.
Questions of the Week
1. What personal or business milestone are you most proud of this year?
2. Who or what has supported you in your journey that you want to acknowledge?
3. How can you celebrate your progress in a way that aligns with your values?
Tool of the Week
This week, I’m recommending Gratitude, a simple but powerful journaling app that helps you cultivate appreciation in your daily life. Whether you’re reflecting on major achievements or small everyday wins, making space for Gratitude can deepen your sense of fulfillment and fuel your purpose. It’s a great way to mark your own milestones and stay grounded in what matters most.
