As I’ve mentioned several times, Ben and I are neck-deep in stress: in addition to the ordinary stressors in our lives, we decided to add buying a house and planning a wedding in the same year. Just last night we were up really late dissecting quotes for paint and handy work at our new place.

And of course, sometimes these discussions lead to fights over where and how we should spend our money. (“Is it really worth it to spend $2000 on a wedding photographer? We could buy a new couch for that.”)

But in the midst of all of this, I’ve have learned it’s helpful to take a step back and realize that these conversations and fights are important because they teach us how to work together in tough times and how to make difficult money decisions together.

Most importantly, it reminds me that I should be grateful for even getting to plan two significant life events with someone who means the world to me.

So in celebration of gratitude and perspective, I wanted to repost one of my first blog entries as a reminder of what really matters most.
