The Premise

If you breakdown, I’ll drive out and find you

“In the past 12 years, I’ve learned how to cope with losing two very important people in my life, made it through law school, the Bar and CFP exams, lived in two amazing cities and vacationed in several more all with one incredible man by my side. Thank you for your love and support through everything. You are the best thing that has happened to me. Happy Anniversary!”

That was my love note to Ben on our most recent anniversary.

I feel like I should provide a little more background on my relationship before we get down to the nitty gritty.  Ben and I went to college together, but we didn’t start dating until the year after we graduated, when we both worked at our university.  We count our first date as our anniversary since we never really had a commitment ceremony or previous “marriage” celebration.

Many say we are opposites – literally black and white.  For example, I’m very logical, unemotive, and a bit to myself. He, on the other hand, is very artistic, talkative, and hates being alone. You will find out much more about us and our relationship through future posts, but suffice it to say that we operate very differently.

Despite our differences, we have loved, learned, and shared our lives the past twelve years.  We by no means have the perfect relationship. But even through the tumultuous times, I often think to myself how lucky I am to have stumbled onto to such an amazing partner and managed to keep him despite myself.
